RAF 248 Squadron Blenheim IVF Over the North Sea 1940 Photo Print
A Royal Air Force Bristol Blenheim Mk IVF, “WR-B” of No. 248 Squadron from North Coates in Lincolnshire, flies out over the North Sea in 1940. Seen from slightly above on its port side, it shows its dark camouflage and pale undersides, the code letters either side of the fuselage roundel and the gunner’s turret behind the wing, with nothing but calm, glittering sea below.
No. 248 Squadron was formed in late 1939 as a Blenheim night fighter unit, and in February 1940 it moved to Coastal Command at North Coates with the long-nosed Blenheim IVF. After a short spell back with Fighter Command that spring, it returned to Coastal Command and spent the rest of 1940 flying long, dangerous reconnaissance patrols off the Norwegian coast from Shetland. It went on to fly Beaufighters and Mosquitos, joined the Banff Strike Wing in 1944 and was renumbered No. 36 Squadron in 1946.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
