RAF 28 Squadron Wessex HC2 XR528 USS Midway December 1982 Photo Print
Royal Air Force Wessex HC2 XR528, code letter A, of 28 Squadron lifts off the flight deck of the American aircraft carrier USS Midway after refuelling during the Hong Kong exercise “Search and Rescue ‘82” on 2nd December 1982. She is seen from her right side just clear of the deck, with bold black and white bands round her rear fuselage and tail, her roundel and “Royal Air Force” on her flank. US Navy deck crew in green jerseys marshal her away, and the nose of a white carrier aircraft edges into the corner of the frame with the open sea behind.
No. 28 Squadron was formed at Fort Grange, Gosport, on 7th November 1915 as part of the Royal Flying Corps, and first went to Hong Kong in 1949. It moved to RAF Sek Kong in the New Territories on 17th May 1978, flying the Wessex in support of the garrison until November 1996. It disbanded at Kai Tak on 3rd June 1997, the last RAF squadron to leave before the handover of Hong Kong to China, and its Wessexes were sold to Uruguay. Re-formed with the Merlin at RAF Benson in 2001, the squadron now flies Chinooks under its motto “Quicquid agas age”, whatsoever you may do, do.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
