RAF 33 Squadron Gladiator L7612 Ismailia Egypt 1938 to 1939 Photo Print
A Royal Air Force Gloster Gladiator of 33 Squadron, serial L7612, runs up its engine at RAF Ismailia in Egypt between about 1938 and 1939, seen from her starboard side as the propeller wash raises a cloud of dust across the airfield. The pilot sits in the open-hooded cockpit while two ground crew hold down the tail beside the squadron’s hart’s head badge on the fin, with a second Gladiator, L7616, and others lined up behind in the haze and a water tower standing on the skyline.
The Gladiator joined the RAF in 1937 as its first fighter with an enclosed cockpit, and it was also the last biplane fighter the service would fly. Already outclassed by modern monoplanes when war broke out, it still fought in Norway, over Malta and across North Africa in 1940. 33 Squadron took its Gladiators into action against the Italian air force over the Western Desert from June 1940, before moving on to Hurricanes, and the squadron still serves today.
This print is ideal for 33 Squadron and RAF veterans and anyone with a connection to the Gloster Gladiator or the RAF in Egypt.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
Your order will be crafted by award-winning framing technicians based in central England, with decades of combined experience. Using the finest FUJI professional photographic papers and premium materials, they ensure exceptional print and frame quality.
Our hand-picked craftsmen and women work with state-of-the-art printing and cutting equipment, yet every frame is still assembled by hand and subject to rigorous quality checks. Their dedication consistently results in outstanding work, appreciated by many returning customers.
