RAF 84 Squadron Griffin HAR2 Firefighting Israel December 2010 Photo Print
A Royal Air Force Griffin HAR2 of 84 Squadron dips an orange water bucket into the sea off the coast at Atlit, Israel, on 3rd December 2010, while fighting the Mount Carmel forest fire. She is seen side-on from her right in her grey rescue scheme, with “RESCUE” on the cabin and “Royal Air Force Rescue” and a roundel on the tail boom. A crewman sits in the open door watching the long line down to the bucket as it skims the water, under a hazy grey sky.
The Mount Carmel fire broke out on 2nd December 2010 and burned for 77 hours, destroying tens of thousands of dunams of forest. It killed 44 people, 36 of them members of the Israel Prison Service, most of them new recruits, and was then the deadliest civil disaster in Israel’s history. The United Kingdom sent two RAF helicopters to join the international effort. From their base at RAF Akrotiri, 84 Squadron’s crews were better known for search and rescue and for supporting United Nations peacekeepers on Cyprus.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
