RAF 18 Squadron Chinook Night El Centro October 2024 Photo Print
A Royal Air Force Chinook of 18 Squadron stands tied down on the dispersal at Naval Air Facility El Centro, California, at night on 5 October 2024, before the start of Exercise Vortex Warrior. The picture is taken low and close to the nose, with the forward rotor blades tethered overhead, streamered covers on the nose probes and stars visible in the dark sky. Light from the airfield catches the glazing of the nose, and hangars glow along the horizon on the right.
18 Squadron re-formed at RAF Odiham in 1981 as the first front-line RAF squadron to fly the Chinook. A year later one of its Chinooks, Bravo November, was the only one to survive the loss of the Atlantic Conveyor during the Falklands War, and went on to fly for decades afterwards. The squadron remains at Odiham today as part of the RAF's heavy-lift helicopter force.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
