RAF 1310 Flight Chinook Bambi Bucket Sea Cliffs Cyprus May 2026 Photo Print
A Royal Air Force Chinook of 1310 Flight hovers low over a small bay beneath pale sandstone cliffs on the Cyprus coast, filling its Bambi firefighting bucket from the sea on a long line. Downwash from the rotors spreads a wide ring of ripples across the water and lifts a fine spray, in which a small rainbow has formed. The photograph was taken from above on 11 May 2026, during a training sortie at the start of the island's wildfire season.
1310 Flight is a detachment of three Chinooks based at RAF Akrotiri, kept there so the UK can meet its obligation under the Sovereign Base Areas treaty to provide an aerial firefighting capability. The flight's parent unit is 27 Squadron at RAF Odiham. In July 2025 its crews helped the Cypriot authorities fight the island's largest wildfires since 1974, a reminder that the training shown here is done with real emergencies in mind.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
