RAF F-35B Lightning FDO Launch HMS Prince Of Wales October 2024 Photo Print
The Flight Deck Officer of HMS Prince of Wales, in white overalls, yellow helmet and a yellow FDO tabard, gives the launch signal to Royal Air Force F-35B Lightning 026 on 3 October 2024, the pilot visible under the canopy. The jet is seconds from rolling down the deck. A second F-35B, 016, waits on the right with deck crew kneeling beside it, under a wide sky of streaked cloud.
The Flight Deck Officer controls every fixed-wing launch, checking that the deck is clear and the wind is right before sending each jet away with a sweep of the arm. The F-35B makes a short rolling take-off up the bow ski ramp, which lets it leave the deck heavier than a vertical take-off would allow. These launches were part of the deck qualifications before Exercise Strike Warrior, the first time 809 Naval Air Squadron, re-formed at RAF Marham in December 2023, had embarked in one of the two new Royal Navy ships.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
