RAF 39 Squadron Hawker Harts Miranshah North West Frontier 1938 Photo Print
Two Royal Air Force Hawker Harts of 39 Squadron, K2096 carrying a large number 2 and K2098 behind it, run their engines on the stony ground at Miranshah on the North West Frontier in 1938. Dust blows back across the airstrip, the crew of K2096 sit in the open cockpits with a gun on the rear mount, and the squadron badge is painted on its fin. A man in a sun helmet and shorts watches from the right, with bare hills behind.
Miranshah was an RAF landing ground and fort in North Waziristan, now in Pakistan but then part of British India. In the late 1930s squadrons flying from there supported the Army against tribesmen who took up arms with the Faqir of Ipi. 39 Squadron had been in India since the late 1920s, flew Harts on frontier work through the 1930s and exchanged them for Blenheims in 1939.
This print is ideal for anyone whose family served on the North West Frontier and for those with a link to 39 Squadron.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
