RAF IV Squadron Harrier Hangar and Chinook Kandahar 2008 Photo Print
A Royal Air Force Harrier of IV Squadron sits nose-out in its floodlit shelter at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, in 2008, as a Chinook helicopter passes low overhead in the dusk. The Chinook is a dark silhouette against a deep blue sky, its rotors blurred by movement. Below, the arched shelter glows from within, with a red warning light on its roof and two of the ground crew walking beside the jet. Distant mountains line the horizon to the left, and the apron in front lies in darkness.
IV Squadron was formed at Farnborough in September 1912, making it one of the oldest squadrons in the Royal Air Force. It flew the Harrier for four decades, from the first GR1s in Germany in 1970 until the type was retired in 2010. As part of Joint Force Harrier it took its turn at Kandahar, where the jets were kept on standby to support troops on the ground. Many sorties were flown at night, when the shelters were lit like this one.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
