RAF 5 Squadron Sentinel R1 ZJ691 Lands at Waddington August 2017 Photo Print
Royal Air Force Sentinel R1 ZJ691 of 5 (Army Co-operation) Squadron touches down at RAF Waddington on 2 August 2017, main wheels on the runway and nose wheel still held just clear. The grey jet had flown home to Lincolnshire after about eight weeks away supporting Operation Shader. Under a flat grey sky, its landing lights glow and the long radar canoe runs along the underside of the fuselage.
The Sentinel was a Bombardier Global Express business jet rebuilt around a powerful ground-surveillance radar, housed in that canoe fairing under the fuselage. Crews from 5 (AC) Squadron used it to track vehicles and movement across wide areas and pass the picture to commanders in near real time, over Afghanistan, Libya, Mali, Iraq and Syria. The small fleet was based at Waddington throughout its service and was retired in 2021.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
