RAF Tornado GR4 136 Taking Off Middle East March 2011 Photo Print
A Royal Air Force Tornado GR4, code 136 on its fin, climbs away from an operational airfield in the Middle East in March 2011, its wheels already tucked away and its wings spread forward for take-off. Seen from her starboard side, the jet carries two large fuel tanks under the wings, with pods and stores beneath the fuselage, and both crew are visible under the canopy. Below, a sand-coloured tower, a tall floodlight mast and a curved fabric hangar sit at the edge of the airfield under a flat, hazy grey sky, with other aircraft parked in the distance.
The Tornado entered RAF service as the GR1 in the early 1980s, and the upgraded GR4 became the backbone of the RAF’s strike force for two decades. The type flew in the 1991 Gulf War, over Iraq, and from June 2009 to November 2014 in Afghanistan, where it took over close air support and reconnaissance duties from the Harrier. In 2011 it also struck targets over Libya, and its last operations were against Daesh over Iraq and Syria before the RAF retired the Tornado in March 2019.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
