RAF Tornado GR4 Refuelling Operation Shader September 2014 Photo Print
A Tornado GR4 with its refuelling probe plugged into the drogue of a Royal Air Force Voyager tanker, photographed on 30 September 2014 during an armed reconnaissance sortie under Operation Shader. The frame is tight on the nose and cockpit, with both crew visible under the canopy, a pod carried beneath the fuselage, the nose of an underwing fuel tank at the edge of the frame, and flat, hazy desert far below.
Operation Shader began in the summer of 2014, and in late September Tornado GR4s flying from RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus started armed patrols over Iraq in support of Iraqi and Kurdish ground forces. The sorties were long, and the Voyager, which had replaced the VC10 and Tristar as the RAF's tanker, kept the jets on task for hours at a time. On the GR4 the probe is retractable and sits on the right side of the forward fuselage, swinging out beside the cockpit when needed.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
