Royal Navy Sea Venom 095 893 NAS HMS Eagle R05 Suez November 1956 Photo Print
A Royal Navy de Havilland Sea Venom FAW.21 of 893 Naval Air Squadron, coded 095, lies flat on her belly on the flight deck of HMS Eagle (R05), a Royal Navy Audacious Class aircraft carrier, on 4th November 1956, after being damaged by anti-aircraft fire over Egypt and landing without her undercarriage. Seen from above off her starboard side, she has her crew still in the cockpit as flight deck crew in hooded fire suits run towards her. The black and white Suez identification stripes on her wings and tail booms, her ROYAL NAVY lettering and roundels, and the open sea beyond the deck edge are all clearly visible.
The Sea Venom was the Fleet Air Arm’s two-seat, all-weather jet fighter, developed from the RAF’s Venom night fighter with the pilot and observer seated side by side. 893 Naval Air Squadron was first formed in 1942 and re-formed at Yeovilton in February 1956 with Sea Venom FAW.21s. That summer it was expanded for the coming Suez operations and embarked in Eagle. Operation Musketeer, the Anglo-French intervention at Suez, began on 31st October 1956, and Eagle’s squadrons struck Egyptian airfields and targets around Port Said in the days that followed. This landing was filmed and photographed from the carrier’s island as onlookers watched.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
