Royal Navy Sentry and White Ensign Umm Qasr Iraq April 2008 Photo Print
A Royal Navy sailor stands watch beneath the White Ensign on 13 April 2008, during operations on the Khawr Abd Allah waterway at Umm Qasr, Iraq. A member of the ship's company of HMS Chiddingfold (M37), a Royal Navy Hunt Class minehunter, he is seen in silhouette against a pale, hazy sky, wearing a helmet and holding a rifle across his body, with a mounted machine gun and its ammunition box beside him. Above him the ensign flies out from its staff, the only colour in the picture.
The Khawr Abd Allah is the channel leading to Umm Qasr, Iraq's main deep water port, which Royal Navy mine warfare ships helped to clear and reopen in 2003. In the years that followed, the Royal Navy kept ships in the northern Gulf to protect the port approaches and Iraq's offshore oil terminals. HMS Chiddingfold, commissioned in 1984, has spent long periods based in Bahrain on mine countermeasures duties.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
