Royal Navy Airborne Early Warning Sea King Helicopter 2010 Photo Print
A Royal Navy airborne early warning Sea King, number 82 on her nose, flies towards the camera with her starboard side and the large radar dome on its swinging arm in full view, photographed in November 2010 during flying from HMS Ark Royal. The rotor disc is sharply frozen against a deep blue sky crossed by a long vapour trail, with a layer of cloud far below. The print has a richly toned, high contrast finish that brings out the panels and rivets of her airframe.
The airborne early warning Sea King was born out of the Falklands War, when the loss of ships to low-flying aircraft showed the fleet needed its own radar in the sky, and the first converted aircraft were rushed to sea later in 1982. Later rebuilt with the Searchwater 2000 radar, the type flew from carriers and over Afghanistan until it was finally retired in 2018. November 2010 was a poignant month for Ark Royal herself, whose early decommissioning had just been announced in the Strategic Defence and Security Review.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
