Singapore Naval Base (Sembawang) 1969 Photo Print
Singapore Naval Base at Sembawang in 1969, looking down from a raised position across a wet quayside and car park towards a basin crowded with warships. Two matching destroyers lie bow on to the quay near the centre with another warship alongside them and more ships moored beyond, a tug sits in the basin in front of a row of cranes, and puddles on the ground under a hazy sky suggest the photograph was taken after rain.
The naval base at Sembawang, on the northern shore of Singapore island, was built between the wars and opened in 1938 with the large King George VI Graving Dock as the centrepiece of Britain's defence of the Far East. It fell to the Japanese in February 1942 and was reoccupied by the British in 1945, going on to support Commonwealth warships through the Malayan Emergency and the Confrontation with Indonesia. In December 1968 the dockyard was passed to the Singapore government to become the commercial Sembawang Shipyard, and the Royal Navy's long presence ended with the British withdrawal of the 1970s.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
Your order will be crafted by award-winning framing technicians based in central England, with decades of combined experience. Using the finest FUJI professional photographic papers and premium materials, they ensure exceptional print and frame quality.
Our hand-picked craftsmen and women work with state-of-the-art printing and cutting equipment, yet every frame is still assembled by hand and subject to rigorous quality checks. Their dedication consistently results in outstanding work, appreciated by many returning customers.
