British Army 1 Welsh Guards Silhouette Nad-e Ali May 2009 Photo Print
A soldier of One Platoon, The Prince of Wales's Company, 1st Battalion Welsh Guards, British Army, stands in black silhouette against a pale gold and blue sky on 14 May 2009. He had just come back to Patrol Base Argyll in the Nad-e Ali district of Helmand after a patrol around the village of Zarghun Kalay. Only the outline of his helmet, headset microphone, rifle and heavy pack stands out against the sky, above a dark line of trees.
The Welsh Guards were formed on 26 February 1915 by order of King George V, completing the set of national regiments of Foot Guards, and first went into action at Loos that September. They lost heavily at Fitzroy in the Falklands in 1982 when RFA Sir Galahad was bombed. In the summer of 2009 the 1st Battalion fought in Operation Panther's Claw in central Helmand, a tour on which its commanding officer, Lieutenant Colonel Rupert Thorneloe, was killed.
This print is ideal for Welsh Guards and British Army veterans, those who served on Operation Herrick 10 and anyone with a connection to the regiment.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
