No. 120 Squadron played a critical role in the Battle of the Atlantic, deploying Liberators equipped with ASV Mark II radar to detect and track German U-boats over vast ocean areas. The presence of FL952, fitted with centimetric ASV radar housed in a distinctive radome under the nose, reflects the rapid technological advancements that significantly improved detection capabilities and helped turn the tide against the U-boat threat.
