HMS Bermuda (52) Royal Navy Fiji Class Light Cruiser departs Valletta Harbour, Malta, in this impressive starboard bow view photographed in August 1953. HMS Bermuda was a Fiji Class Light Cruiser of the Royal Navy, completed during the Second World War and named after the British territory of Bermuda. Built by John Brown & Company of Clydebank, she was launched on the 11th of September 1941 and became the eighth Royal Navy vessel to carry the name. The Fiji Class cruisers were developed as compact yet heavily armed warships, designed to fulfil fleet escort and cruiser duties during wartime operations.
