HMS Arethusa was a Leander Class frigate of the Royal Navy, named after a figure from Greek mythology in keeping with the tradition of the class. Built by J.S. White & Company Shipbuilders of Cowes, she was launched on the 5th of November 1963 and commissioned on the 24th of November 1965. As part of one of the most successful post-war frigate classes, Arethusa served during a period defined by Cold War naval operations and global deployments.
