HMS Blyth was a Sandown Class Minehunter of the Royal Navy built by Vosper Thornycroft at Woolston, Southampton. Laid down on the 30th of May 1999, launched in May 2000, and commissioned into Royal Navy service in February 2001, she formed part of the Royal Navy’s specialist mine countermeasures force. Designed using advanced materials and acoustic reduction measures, Sandown Class vessels played an important role in protecting shipping lanes and naval operations. HMS Blyth was later transferred to the Romanian Navy where she was renamed Sublocotenent Ion Ghiculescu (M270).
