HMS Tuna (N94) Royal Navy T Class submarine is captured approaching the submarine depot ship HMS Forth in Holy Loch, Scotland, in August 1943. Shown from a high bow angle, the image offers a rare operational perspective of a wartime submarine returning to support infrastructure, with the depot ship visible ahead as a vital part of sustained submarine operations.
HMS Tuna (N94) was a T Class submarine of the Royal Navy, built by Scotts of Greenock and launched on 10 May 1940. Equipped with German-built MAN diesel engines, she operated extensively in the North Sea and along the western coasts of Europe during the Second World War. She is most famously associated with Operation Frankton, the daring raid on Bordeaux harbour later depicted in the film The Cockleshell Heroes. Throughout her service, Tuna conducted numerous patrols and contributed to the destruction of enemy vessels, earning recognition for her wartime achievements.
This print is ideal for Royal Navy enthusiasts, World War II historians, and collectors seeking a historically rich image that captures both submarine operations and the wider support network behind them.
