HMS Alfriston (M1103) was laid down in August 1951 by John I Thornycroft at Woolston and completed in March 1954. Commissioned shortly after, she served with the 101st Minesweeping Squadron based at Southampton as WARSASH. With nearly three decades of operational service, primarily with the Royal Naval Reserve, she exemplified the durability and effectiveness of the Ton Class in maintaining safe coastal waters during the Cold War.
