HMS Brereton was a Ton Class Minesweeper of the Royal Navy, built by Richards Ironworks at Lowestoft and completed on the 9th of July 1954. She was transferred in October 1954 to HMS Cambria, the South Wales Division of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve based in Cardiff, before later being converted to a minehunter at Portsmouth between July 1967 and December 1968. With 33 years fully operational, HMS Brereton represents the long service and adaptability of the Ton Class in post-war Royal Navy mine warfare.
