HMS Inconstant H49 I Class Destroyer 1941 Photo Print
HMS Inconstant (H49), an I Class destroyer, moves slowly through sheltered water in 1941, her bow to the left and her port side towards the camera, with the pennant H49 painted large on the bow. Sailors are gathered on her forecastle, smoke drifts back from her funnel, and her paintwork is pale forward and noticeably darker aft, with a low shoreline and buildings behind.
Inconstant was laid down at Vickers-Armstrongs in Barrow as the Turkish destroyer Muavenet, but was purchased for the Royal Navy on the outbreak of war in 1939 and commissioned early in 1941. She spent much of the war on escort work, and in July 1943 she sank the German submarine U-409 in the Mediterranean off Algeria. In 1946 she was finally handed over to Turkey and served there under her original name.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
